Well, you should be able to figure out by the title of the page and link that I am addicted to coffee. Not plain coffee, but espresso drinks. I mostly drink Latte's but have been known to drink a Mocha (with not too much chocolate) or a Cafe Miel(Latte with honey and cinnamon).
My Espresso Machine
In November of 2009 I purchased my first "real" espresso machine, a Saeco Sirena. I thought I was addicted before I had the machine and now I have become a full espresso addict. There are worse things to be addicted to but it changes the way you look at coffee. I don't make the best espresso in the world but I have gotten to the point that I can tell if my espresso is going to be good by the sound of the pump in the espresso machine and the resulting sound of the freshly brewed goodness' pouring into my glass(the sound is really the speed of which the espresso is coming out of the portafilter).
I did have a really cheap espresso machine that my mom gave me back in 01' but that turned out to be a disaster. One it was the type that boiled the water and the resulting pressure was used to press the water through the ground coffee beans. Two, the pressure cap was a pain to get to seal properly. And three, when the beans are ground too fine and tamped too hard the machine couldn't get water through the coffee. So when you switched the lever to the steam wand to release the pressure and try to take the portafilter out there is still pressure between the relay resulting in a small coffee explosion. I know this because this coffee explosion ended up on my countertop, floor and wall. Yes, I said wall. That was the last day that the cheap espresso machine was used. I have a feeling the coffee gods were looking out for my well being and didn't want me to be addicted too quickly.
